SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
Chris W. Hulen, Superintendent of the Coolidge ISD, is a native of Dallas. After
graduating from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1972, Hulen completed his B.A. in
Music Performance at the University of Texas at Dallas and later earned a M.Ed. in
Music Supervision and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration/Marketing from the
University of North Texas.
Hulen has been the superintendent at Coolidge since 2000 and was principal at Coolidge
Elementary from 1995-2000. Prior to coming to Coolidge, Hulen was an administrator in
the Newton and Duncanville ISDs and taught band and/or music in the Granbury, United,
Kaufman, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, and Houston ISDs.
Chris and his wife Rena, an Orchestra Director with the Ft. Worth ISD, have been
married for 29 years.
